On November 17, 2023, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that extends the statute of limitations for claims resulting from unlawful discriminatory practices from one to three years. As you may recall, starting on August 12, 2020, the statute of limitations for filing a sexual harassment complaint in New York State was extended from one year to three years. This new law will now include all unlawful discriminatory practices in the three year limitation period for filing claims.
The new law will take effect on February 15, 2024 and will apply to all unlawful discriminatory practices claims arising on or after such date. Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Law Group.
